My jazz songwriting dreams are coming true! Dizzy & Fay is launching into the world of Canadian jazz with a debut album called Songbook!
Mark Lalama and I have been working hard to create our own voice in the Canadian jazz landscape; crafting songs that capture a new perspective but at the same time feel like they’ve always been here…
…And maybe they have. Maybe we are just tapping into a vibration that’s been reverberating since love was first born in the depths of human past. Maybe this music is older than we are, and with the right moment in time - when everything quieted down - we could finally hear it.
I don’t know how we stumbled into this amazing and surprising world of Dizzy & Fay. But the part of me that first wanted to sing - that little teenage girl who was too scared to tell anyone about her dreams of singing like Ella Fitzgerald - that ME is overjoyed.
And proud.
And she ‘aint scared no more!
She’s just full-out ELATED!
